Flower Festival in Girona

Have you ever seen a city full of flowers?
On the days of the Temps de Flors, the scents and colors of fresh flowers fill the streets and squares of the already charming Girona.
Every year the festival participants prepare something interesting – from ironic and abstract compositions to “works of art”.
In addition to the streets, flower arrangements will decorate architectural monuments and museums inside and entrance to them will be absolutely free.
Restaurants and cafes also prepare a special floral menu.
What awaits us in 2022?
Terribly curious!

In addition to sports, emotions and spectacles, this event is very bright.

Habanera Holiday

Have you ever heard Habaners?
No— you will say.
And I’m sure you’ve heard at least one, because these songs are very popular and came to Catalonia from the Caribbean region in the XIX century, and they settled so deeply in their culture that they became national.
Traditionally, the stage is set on the seashore, the shore is crowded with listeners, and burnt rum «cremat» is cooked and tasted nearby — an integral part of this holiday.

Indians Fair

The Spaniards who got rich in Cuba in the XVIII century and returned to Spain were called ”Indians”.
Here, in Begur, they built their chic colonial-style houses, and they also brought everything Cuban from the New World – songs, cuisine, clothes… which is what this holiday is dedicated to.
Everywhere here are people in white clothes and hats, incendiary Latin dances, Creole traditional cuisine, rum flows like a river … the whole city is immersed in unrestrained fun and transferred to the XVIII—th colonial century.

Fira de L'Avet Christmas Fair

Catalan Christmas markets are very atmospheric and delicious.
The aromas of cinnamon, citrus, and cloves immerse you in a fairy tale, bring you back to childhood.
But there is one special Christmas market that we recommend visiting – this is Fira de L’Avet (Fir Fair) in the medieval village of Espinelves.
Within 10 days, the whole village turns into a Christmas fairy tale.
There are live fir trees everywhere, the smell of stoves, the music of a troubadour can be heard and local artisans’ shops with souvenirs, cheeses, sausages and delicacies are all around… Be sure to try the local flatbread – Coca de Espinelves with anise flavor and chestnut liqueur.

Festa de la Sal or the Festival of Salt

Festa de la Sal is perhaps the most important holiday of the town of L’Escala.
Because his whole history, life, troubles and joys are connected with fishing.
On the day of the holiday, as hundreds of years ago, the same boats with families of fishermen in traditional clothes arrive on this beach, salt fish, arrange a feast on the seashore, dance and sing traditional songs.
You will be able to become a part of this authentic, colorful holiday and taste the real cuisine of sailors!
And when it gets dark, a very touching action will happen — a lot of lights will light up in the hands of singing people to give the sailors a landmark.
And, suddenly, out of the darkness of the sea, white sails will appear, which will float like moths to the light.
